SOLVED. SONOFF runs without cloud/hub?

Can anyone kindly confirm my understanding that with the latest HA 2021.1.3 + SONOFF Integration integration does not require a hub or cloud subscription and works on local LAN/WiFi. Furthermore one does need to pair the SONOFF devices first using the eWeLink app but once done the SONOFF devices will work on WiFi without an internet connection (i.e. on the LAN/WiFi) ?

Am I correct or if not, please kindly point me in the right direction.

As far as I know, Sonoff devices doesn’t need any cloud subscription and Yes, Sonoff devices can work without an active internet connection but make sure they have the firmware version v3. Just check out his video.

In case of integrating sonoff devices which have the original firmware, you can check this custom component.

This gives both cloud and LAN control with HA.

IMHO For the best local control of your sonoff devices i would highly recommend flashing the devices with custom firmware like Tasmota or ESPHome. No requirement to ever go near the ewelink app. I have 30+ sonoff devices & 15+ other brand devices all with Tasmota & configured to communicate with HA via MQTT. I have found this to be a very robust & flexible setup in my home. Additionally, i do have 3 Sonoff S26 plugs that i use via the AlexxIT/SonoffLAN custom HACS integration. This is also stable for me.

X2 same here Tasmota on all devices just plain works and no cloud service connectivity need
