Some newbie questions

Hi to all,
i’m new and I’m planning to use HomeAssistant for a simple home automation.
Currently I’m using Google Home mini with multiple devices connected with multiple apps (you know , each hardware has it’s own app to integrate with google home and so on)

Here’s the questions (let’s assume some Shelly devices)

  1. with home-assistant i’m able to use the home automation even without internet, right ? The only requirement is a working WiFI where each device is connected to
  2. With Google Home i’ve created some routing , like “Hey google, good night”. This routine will make multiple action (close the rolling curtains, turn off all the lights and so on). I’ll be able to create the same ? If yes, how ? It’s mandatory, for me, to not say "Hey google, talk to " but I need the implicit invocation like I do with IFTTT and Google Home

Yes and no. Google home will not work without internet, the speech processing (to my knowledge) is done on their servers. Some components will not work without internet depending on if the device supplier allows a local connection. Each component page has a IOT class in the upper right hand corner. Look for local polling or local push for things that work locally. The one below for example is local polling.

Someone else will have to chime in on #2 as I don’t use a google home.

Yes, google home will not work without internet but other devices should do.
Shelly 1 and Shelly 2 supports a local mode, so I think it would be possible to manage them via home assistant even if internet is down.
