I got this Sonoff switch running with HACS, Sonoff Lan repository and it shows up in my entities as desired, setup a switch on my dashboard and works perfectly.
I have channel 1 setup to be a 0.5 sec inching switch, like a momentary switch. My intended use is that I have a front gate on my property with a motherboard that I can tap into. On the board there are 2 pins that connect to a simple momentary switch, just like on a motherboard of a computer to power on the computer. You take a paperclip and bridge the 2 terminamls and bam the gate opens! My question is, can this be done with what I bought. I tried hooking up the neutral and the L1 of channel 1 to the board but it kills my break when I fire the action. (its trying to pass 10a of AC through the connection to a DC board) I just want the board to close the circuit for a second to trigger the gate button similar to an old fashion garage door opener. Is this possible? If not, what should I buy? Thanks
I think your issue is that the device you have is not the PRO.
The Listing does say PRO, but the pictured devices is the Sonoff 4CH (non pro)
Here are the differences between plain and PRO. Here are the differences between pro and pro R2. (4CH Pro supports to set 0.25-4s delay in inching mode, while 4CH Pro R2 supports to set 1-16s)
What you essentially want, is to just close the circuit of your gate’s MB independently. This is what i use the pro too, for my irrigation valves.
If I recall correctly, that’s the difference between plain and PRO, that the pro has dry contacts where you can pass any current you want back to itself, whereas the non-pro will use its AC power to feed any device connected (I might be wrong ofcourse)
This is what a 4CH PRO looks like, and you can see the separate contacts (NC and NO) for each channel:
I did notice that when configuring it with HA. The sticker on the box says it is a Pro but it obviously is not. I might try and buy the Pro and it should work.
Other option is, can I use one of those voltage regulators that changes the AC power to 3.3 - 5V?
