I’m guessing is a new version??? Not sure… but loosing the soldering and wired flashing will make things SO much easier
This video review will tell you everything you need to know about the new Sonoff Basic R3 and also provide an instructional tutorial as to how to flash Tasmota to the Sonoff basic R3 OTA (Over The Air) by putting it into DIY mode without having to break out the soldering iron or buy other components. If you’re a fan of Home Assistant then life just got much cheaper and much easier!
No I sure didn’t… I’m thinking the way to go are with the Shelly’s… As I understand you dont even have to flash them… there is a component (add in) that will search and pull them into HA “Auto- Magicly”… I haven tried that either… I’ve been bust adding cameras and running RJ45! Summer months are the wrong months for that!!
I have a couple Shelly 1’s in the post and want to test them in a standard wall switch. I already have several sonoffs around the house with a simple mqtt code flashed through Arduino IDE, I’ve always struggled with tasmota though but will give it another go on the Shelly. It sounds simple enough but I get impatient and if you have code that works why mess with it. I’ll let you know how I get on, good luck with your cameras. I really want to move my raspi zero cameras to unify rj45 cameras but what a job running the cables! Maybe in my next house…
For what its worth… The Reolink cameras for $50 (Amazon) are great. Yes running the wires was a major PITA but worth it. My secrete was to just give in and use a large , 4" hole saw with a stud finder.
Using the hole saw gave me nice easy to fix hole in my walls… typically I needed two/three holes One at the header at the location I drilled thru the walls header plate… one mid-wall for cross studs where I notched the cross plate… Bought myself a “fish pole” from Harbor Freight…fiberglass rod that screws together to pull wires…
