Sonoff in a Coffee Machine

I can turn on and off Sonoff using the Coffee Machine button thought GPIO14.

My main question is if I can replace the circuit or need to use both (the original circuit and the sonoff).

If you need to ask this, you can’t. And shouldn’t. The photo you uploaded shows all kinds of unshielded crossing wires. This is asking for havoc.

Out of interest, what exactly are you trying to achieve with your Sonoff (which one by the way?)

Once again remember you’re playing with 240V.
I’m no professional but have a degree in electronics, so I know enough to tell you that this stuff can kill if not wired/earthed correctly.
I don’t want to sound negative/obnoxious, but don’t say you were not warned…

If you are simply trying to turn it on and off, a simple smart plug is safer and easier.

It’s not possible to use a smart plug with this kind of coffee machine (that was my first try) because the push button.

The project is done. I’ll post it later on Share Your Project.

Thanks

Hi Ulisses,

could You please share your circuit and the Sonoff configuration.
I was thinking about doing something similar to my washing machine.

Hi @gregor,

I brought the cheapest coffee machine I’ve found, the initial idea was to put a sonoff serial (as a switch) but when it arrives I realized that the coffee machine has a push button.

So… I decided to open the coffee machine and look inside and found a circuit for the push button (image above).

After some research and tests, I replaced the original circuit with a sonoff as image below.

Put the sonoff back inside the CM and It’s working fine!

The only problem is that the push button light is always on (even when the CM is off), but that’s is not a problem for me.

Here’s a video with the CM working.

Your connections look like they are wrapped with electrical tape, coffee machines tend to rattle and move around and there is the possibility of water leaking. I would as a minimum get familiar with heatshrink which you should be using on these joins.

he’s been warned already. I guess I worry to much :open_mouth:

That was for test proposals only.
I didn’t want to remove the original clamps before have 100% sure the connections worked. After that I’ve removed the electric tapes, the white wires, the clamps and connect the coffee machine wires direct to sonoff.

Thanks for your concerns, but I think this community is a knowledge exchange place, just say “don’t do that” is not useful at all.

If you’re interested I have an ultrasonic sensor that tells me the water level in mine also.

Very interesting…
But still have to put the coffee powder manually

Right now I’m working in an electric door lock + face recognition.

I fully agree with sharing knowledge, however sharing a “how to” / “this is how I did it” in a way that can harm users/readers and without any disclaimers or warnings of any sorts is probably not the best way to go.

I’m really concerned about how you approached this and the lack of / poor safety that you’ve applied, which has also been highlighted by others, which will result in you harming yourself or worse.

I’m also worried about others reading your post, thinking “it looks easy, I could do this too”, following what you’ve done and electrocuting themselves as a result. (again no disclaimers/warnings)

Like I said earlier, I guess I worry to much :open_mouth:

So you are using the 3.3 VCC, GND and GPIO14 and set it to pulse?

Yes, I’m.

I think i have very similar coffee machine. Can you help with schematic how did you connected sonoff?

Look at the pics, and follow the wiring in your machine.

If you need to ask this question you should read this;
