Im very new to Hass.io and have been setting up my system over the past couple days. I am using Google Wifi and am having trouble with my Sonoff Basics/Tasmotized switches maintaining connection. They connect for a min or two and then the green led starts to flash rapidly and there is no connection between them and Hass. I am wondering if this might be an issue with Google Wifi. Has anyone had experience with this type of setup? Or any idea of what I might try to fix the connection issues?
Yeah it sounds like a wifi connection issue
It could be the sonoff crashing. I saw the same with espeasy firmware. If you disconnect from mains power and use usb-serial to power you might see problem logged over the serial connection.
Definitely what @DavidFW1960 said, they really don’t like a weak signal and aren’t very tolerant of other people on the same band. I have a few outside in my garage and the furthest one didn’t have the greatest signal and suffered from this loads.
New router, better placed in the centre of the house giving a much stronger signal and it hasn’t lost connection once since doing this several months ago.
That’s the thing, it’s a “new” (less than 1 yr) google wifi with 3 nodes. Very strong signal all over house, I only have 2 sonoffs connected sitting not 10 feet from main hub. I’m wondering if Google wifi is kicking them out rather than them dropping out. I’m hoping to find someone else that is or has used Google wifi with sonoff/taz.
Go into Configure WIFI in the Sonoff’s web UI and click “scan for wifi networks”, it’ll tell you what the local competition is like and obviously how strong the Sonoff thinks your wifi is, might give some clues. Check the received strength when you turn things on and off in your house that may be causing interference.
