Sonoff Relay as Garage Door Opener

So, I picked up a Sonoff Contact Sensor and ZBMiniL2 and am trying to figure out if I can wire the relay up to my garage door opener. It’s one of the newer MyQ Garage Door Openers, so it has a lot of those BS “security” and “safety” features built into it that make it a bit trickier to wire in to it. I figured I had 3 different approaches; find a way to wire it into the 4 termination ports on the opener itself, solder onto the wall-mounted button, or sacrifice one of my car remotes. Any suggestions to this would be fantastic, as I haven’t been able to find any concrete path to go forward with as of now.

I’ve ended up using the Ratgdo module.

Just connect according to the wiring diagram and you get every information you need through ESP Home, MQTT or Homekit.

You see if the garage is open or closed, switch the light on/off on the garagedoor opener and so on.

Yeah, I’ve seen it as an option. I was just trying to go cheap and I really don’t need that much functionality outside of open and close.

You need something to simulate the button push to open / close the garage. The easiest way would be to put a relay with potential free contacts in parallel to the button.

However the ZBMiniL2 is not a potential free relay. The switched output of the relay is the same voltage as your power input.

Are you referring to dry/wet contact mode? If so, would the Aqara relay module T2 be something more in line with what I’m looking for?

Or you could go with ESPHome and something like this:

That’s not bad at all for the price. My only issue is I’ve been trying to reduce the number of Wifi devices I have in my house, because my home is already oversaturated with a large number of Matter and Homekit devices that have taken up a pretty decent chunk of my 2 access points’ capabilities. As a result, I’ve been trying to build out a decently robust Zigbee network and hence why I’ve had my eyes on Zigbee relays. It’s just very difficult to find a suitable candidate when most of the well known solutions are wifi-based.

I was - yet again - trying to do the same by ordering this Zigbee device:

Generic Zigbee 4CH DC7-32V USB 5V… https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D1DLKHZP?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

After Amazon sent me the WiFi version TWICE instead of the Zigbee one, I gave in and installed it.
Not the first time Amazon sent me stuff different from what I ordered - guess they’re having some product intake issues.

Not sure, if there’s a single relay version of this device that’s even cheaper than the 4-channel one.

That is probably the easist option, see → Removal of MyQ integration - Home Assistant
