SONOFF RFBridgeR2 vs 433 RF Bridge

Hi,
I am looking to buy RF433 Gateway to setup with Home Assistant. Anyone know what are the differences between the two devices and if new one is compatible with Tasmota? Also, if someone knows a better Gateway can also includes IR that would be great. Thank you.

Both work with Tasmota, but the black one can also be flashed with Portish, the new R2 (white one) can only be flashed with Tasmota, but not with Portish.

what is the benefits of adding Portish.

Pro : Portish supports more protocols than the native decoder
Con: Portish is more difficult to send/receive codes the native decoder (you have to play with rfraw all the time)

By any chance could you help me with this issue regarding portisch?

im trying to update my rf Bridge with firmware Keil 8051 v9.53 - Release

I keep getting “Upload error code 209” - Im using 10.0.0(tasmota) I have tried with the RF switch both On and Off.
I have a few basic rf remotes that I can get the codes for but ther are two remotes that don’t se the codes at all, from what I have researched this firmware may let me see codes that the origional firmware won’t sniff.
If anybody could help or oint me whereI can find some information I would be grateful as I can’t find anything on this.

this is where i started, im just tring to get a few difficult remotesto readthr RF codes. Ill keep trying, thanks for the reply!

Are you sure they are 433 Mhz ?

I think so?

Im not sure if this helps or not.

The first one is a 315 Mhz device

Second device is 304.25 MHz

That explains it, lol

so is there no way to make te rf bridge work with these remotes? is there something else that you lnow I can try? thanks for looking those up, i seriously appreciate it!

If the frequency does not match, there is little you can do. You can try to build a DIY receiver/transmitter for the 315 Mhz device using a ESP and a 315 Mhz transmitter and receiver from aliexpress, but I have never seen 304.24 Mhz radios on aliexpress.

asking again, if we use Tasmota meaning its dependent on cloud? not locally available? and there is no direct integrations between the sonoff RF bridgeR2 to HA?

If you use Tasmota, there is no dependency on the cloud. Integration through MQTT (meaning, if you use HA OS, you need to install the MQTT add-on)

I tried the ewelink install and its working, but I am running it under the pi5 and somehow I cant create button trigger like on and off for the buttons I recorded, any references to that? thank you!

ah scratch that! turns out I just have to reconfig/synced it to load the buttons and assign it into the dashboard, sorry for the false alarm!
