I’m having an issue with my SONOFF SNZB-06P presence sensor and could really use some help.
I’m using it in my bathroom as part of a night light setup. The goal is simple: when someone walks in at night, the sensor should detect presence and turn on a dim light. Once the person leaves and the room is empty, I want the light to turn off after a short delay (a few seconds or a minute or two).
The problem is: the sensor gets stuck on “Detected” and never switches back to “Clear”, no matter what I set for the presence detection timeout (0 seconds, 2 minutes, etc.). This means the light never turns off unless I manually go into the device settings and either change the detection sensitivity or move the timeout slider, only then will it reset to “Clear” and let the automation work again.
This completely breaks the automation and makes it unreliable. I’d prefer not to return the sensor if I can avoid it. I just want to finish this project without waiting for a replacement.
If anyone has run into this issue or knows how to fix it, I’d really appreciate some guidance.
I don’t have this device so this is a generic troubleshooting step.
What happens if you temporarily move the device to another location? Does it still get stuck on “detected” after it’s been triggered?
Actually, I think I’ve figured out the issue. It was my mistake. Since I’m new to this, I didn’t realize the bathroom mirror could affect it, especially when no one was in the room. But apparently, it does. Once I repositioned it so it wasn’t facing the mirror, it started working properly.
Thank you for the suggestion. I had tried everything I could think of, and moving it to a different angle away from the mirror did the trick.
Mmwave will pick up reflections easily. Hell, even fans or a slowly moving curtain have been reported as triggering it.
That is why I suggested moving the device. If my post helped you solve your issue, kindly mark it with the solution tag. That way anyone with the same problem can easily identify that the post has been resolved and find the answer immediately. Thank you
