I’m seeing everyone talking about having to upgrade to new firmware for Ember, but I’m not seeing the official release anywhere saying YOU MUST UPGRADE YOUR STICK OR ELSE kind of warning that everyone’s comments seem to be eluding to.
I have 3 of the “P” sticks running Z2M. As I understand it, I have to replace them all for “E” sticks instead. By when? Or what - I won’t be able to take Z2M updates in the future?
Or does this update only apply to those running the “E” sticks today?
Will the P sticks instead work for ZHA until … some day down the road?
No need to replace the cc2652p sticks at all. Just keep using them as you always have. They is no plan to deprecate the zstack driver.
The “Ember” upgrade only applies if you are already using an SI Labs stick like the ZBDongle-E or SkyConnect. These sticks originally used z2m’s ezsp driver (adapter: ezsp) , but the new “ember” driver (adapter: ember) is a more robust replacement for SI Labs sticks, pretty much a clean rewrite. The older “ezsp” driver is now considered deprecated and will likely be removed at some point.
