I have bought this device as it is cheap and has good reputation. Now, after a lot of research I see it seams to have a Zigbee bridge to get it running with home asisstant.
a) ist that true or are there other posibilitiies.
b) can onyone recommend a bridge with LAN connection
I recently bought one of these for testing. I have linked it directly to Home Assistant with no hub using zigbee2mqtt and so far it is working well for my needs with all the expected exposes as listed on SONOFF TRVZB control via MQTT | Zigbee2MQTT
I think I misread your question, assuming you were talking about a proprietary Zigbee hub. As far as I’m aware you do need some kind of Zigbee bridge, the ZB in the product name stands for Zigbee I think, so it’s not a wifi product.
A zigbee bridge like the Sonoff USB dongle is quite cheap (£20-25) and easy to set up.
Thank you for helping me
My Home Asisstant is running as VM on my VMware ESXi, I used the provided VM Image and did all updates till today, so I think I am current.
So I have no USB oder Serial Interface available. It’s possible to configure such a port, but the server is down in my cellar.
First I assumed I can connect directly from HA, I tried with integrating Zigbee Home Automation but there I’m asked for a serial port.
Then I looked for Zigbee2MQTT but could not find it in the list, then I tried MQTT itselve (I have a lot of experiance with MQTT as I have intergrated a lot of self programmed device via MQTT in HA with configurating them in configuration.yaml) but no succes.
My be I am blind or do not understand some thing.
Do you have some more information? I have also seen some youtube tutorilas, but the did’nt realy help. Or if you have a link to a more derails description.
Tanks
In order to use Zigbee devices you must have a Zigbee coordinator. You can find a list of coordinators and see whether they are compatible with ZHA or Z2MQTT at zigbee.blakadder.com.
