4ch pro has tasmota on it. I did an upgrade and even though it has in the past, it just won’t connect to our home wifi. I turned on the reserved IP address and that didn’t help either.
If I turn the router off the sonoff flashes and I can connect to it and change the wifi credentials. I have double checked them but it just won’t connect.
Tried sonota again but it thinks it has done its job and goes straight to the “final stage success” part and thinks I should be able to find the sonoff on the wifi network…
When the router is on the WIFI light on the unit only comes on when a relay is activated. It’s like it’s connected to the wifi but I can’t see the device on the routers page. Who knows what IP address it has if it has even connected…
You didn’t provide a lot of information on your actual setup to allow us to try and help.
What are you running HA on? Did the Tasmotized Sonoff have a fixed IP address, that was working. (something that you had set with IPAddress1 192.168.0.#, IPAddress 192.168.0.1 and IPAddress3 255.255.255.0
Was the SSID1 your_wifi_ssid and Password1 your_pw?
If you are running Hassio, have you tried to use the Tasmota Admin addon? It can show the firmware version, upgrade the firmware over the air, show the SSID, show the wifi strength.
Tasmota Admin can search a range of IP Addresses and show all powered Sonoffs, ESP8288;s etc.
Have you tried to set the sonoff right next to the router (same room).
Good luck, if that doesn’t work I would likely try to re-flash the unit with the current Tasmota bin file.
Sorry chief.
Yeah running the latest version on hassbian but I’ve never connected it to home assistant or setup MQTT yet so that is irrelevant.
When the router is off I can connect to it using 192.168.4.1
I used SSID and password 1 for the setup.
Tasmota admin is on the list then for this evening.
I have used fing and the router admin page not either don’t show the sonoff.
That is the standard IP address that tasmota uses in WiFi manager mode. It’s odd that you can only connect to that when the router is off. Therefore it sounds like the sonoff maybe connecting, you just can’t see it on the router.
I had similar issues when I first flashed my sonoffs. I ended up hardbaking my WiFi config into the arduino flash file before compiling and uploading. Not sure which method you are using to flash tasmota or if that’s possible but that’s what did the trick for me.
Rethinking, if the wifi manager mode has not started then the soniff must have connected to an AP, because otherwise it would go into manager mode.
Some questions;
What did you upgrade, and from which to what?
What does “I turn on the reserved ip address” mean?
I have had problems getting devices in wifi manager mode to save settings via some browsers, notably firefox on linux. I usually have success on chrome on my android phone - try another browser, set your wifi stuff on the 4ch, then reboot and see if it “stuck”.
Yes it does but I have had issues with one off my sonoffs in the garage. I think it’s because it connects to my WiFi extender but it’s always changing IP address. I haven’t got around to looking into it further.
I have tasmoadmin and that always finds the new IP address after a rescan. Maybe you should try that
Yeah thanks boys. Back from dinner so Tasmoadmin might be the next thing I do. I have taken the Address Reservation away and will see if I can find this thing.
Yep. Looks like the same thing. Now running the flash new HassOS and got Tasmoadmin running with no luck. So to me the Sonoff isn’t even on the WIFI as before the update it was and I could see it even on my router admin page and on fing.
That’s so weird. 6.1.1 hasn’t missed a beat for me. Maybe the type of Sonoff is a factor? Mine are S22 switches (smart plugs) configured in basic mode…
Sorry mate! I thought I had responded to everyone.
No go on the ping…
Thanks for the help however!
I think during this upgrade/update phase something screwy went on.
Just waiting for some new cables to arrive and I’ll start again.
It was working beautifully until I touched the update button…
