Sonoff ZBMini L2 and 2-way light switch without new wires

Hi folks

I’m trying to add a Sonoff ZBMini L2 to my ceiling fan with light which is controlled by a RF remote control. The remote control, needless to say, can only control the fan if one of the switches turned on the energy to the fan. I want to be able to control it via Home Assistant AND via both switches.

Option 1 - Controlling via both switches

I did some research and it seems that to achieve what I want (control via both switches and the Sonoff), I’d need to extend another wire. I’d like to avoid that because I’m renting the place.

Do I really need to or there is a way to achieve it without adding more wires? There is a junction boxes close to the Switch 1, maybe I can add the Sonoff there?

Option 2 - Replace Switch 2 with Sonoff

One other option I’d like to investigate is the possibility to replace the Switch 2 completely, by replacing it with Sonoff. We mostly use Switch 1 on to control the light, so disabling the Switch 2 and using its wires to wire Sonoff would be an acceptable solution.

I have no idea how to achieve it though, ie, I don’t know.

Here is a diagram with what I believe is the current state and the idea for option 2:

Any tip or help is greatly appreciated!
