Hello,
I’d appreciate a sanity check, please. I live in a modern house in the UK with neutral at the switch and, per my understanding, 2-plate wiring.
I have a double switch outside the bathroom: one switch controls the light and the other controls the fan. They are both one-way switches, there’s no other switch that controls the same light/fan.
What I am aiming to do is be able to automate turning on/off the fan. The light switch will remain as is.
I’ve drawn out the wiring behind the switch as-is. The earth wires are bundled and screwed to the earth terminal in the back box - I didn’t draw those.
I think this is what I need to do. I was a little flummoxed by the third wire coming into the COM port of the light switch but I believe that’s the permanent live going to the next switch in the lighting ring.
Am I right that:
- I can bring all the live wires currently coming into the two COM ports into a connector block and connect that to the Light switch COM port and to the Sonoff ZBMini’s LIn port?
- I only need to connect the Sonoff ZBMini once to the existing neutral block?
I will admit that I looked inside the switch when I first bought these a long time ago, it made my head hurt and I put this project away. These drawings are the result of a lot of YouTube.
Any help (and recommendations to consult an electrician) appreciated!
Thanks,
Phill
