I’m hoping someone can tell me how to create an automation that will turn on an led light strip when my Sonos speaker is playing. Then I want one to turn it off when it stops playing. I tried a basic one that’s not working.
You have to change the trigger type to device, choose your sonos player and then select ‘starts playing’ as the trigger. And then the same for the opposite automation - choose ‘is paused’. Let me know if you need further help 
like this:
Change your state type of “off to on” to just “to playing” (ignore from).
The media_player domain states you would want to trigger on are idle, paused, or playing.
