I’m currently able to control my STR-DN1080 receiver’s power (ON/OFF) with Alexa using the Sony Songpal integration. Unfortunately I can ONLY control the power option, not the video SOURCE on the receiver. From within Home Assistant when I click on the STR-DN1080 Device I see an option for SOURCE that I can change manually between the various settings like SAT/CATV, Video 1, Video, 2, etc and it does work, but I don’t see the “SOURCE” options when I try to set up an Alexa routine within the Alexa client on my phone. Is there a way to have the SOURCE options show up so I can use them in an Alexa routine?
I ended up buying a Broadlink RM4 Pro and that works to fully control the Sony STR-DN1080, but I’d still like to understand how to accomplish fully controlling the STR-DN1080 without the RM4 Pro if possible.
How have you get broadlink learnt str-dn1080 buttons? It does not recognized any signal when I point to the hub
You need to use the media_player.select_source
service (“Media player: select source” in UI). You can type the source name exactly as it is shown in the dropdown you referenced.
How did you get songpal enabled i cant figure out how to turn it on im connected to the wifi and can ping the amp over the network but it wont connect
I just came across this old thread when checking something else. Not sure if it’s interesting for anyone on this thread, but I’ve written a media player integration for STR-DN1040 which seems to work with several other STRs as well. It’s at peteS-UK/sonyavr: Home Assistant Media Player for older Sony AVRs (github.com) Give it a try if you’d like and let me know if you get anywhere - easiest way is to raise an issue on guthub.
