Speaking an Alexa command to produce a different sentence?

This is my first post so apologies if this comes across as ignorant.

On my Nvidia Shield TV, I currently have Tasker set up. I have the AutoVoice skill on my Alexa device.

If I say “Alexa, ask Autovoice to watch [movie name]”, then it opens the movie on my Nvidia Shield.

My question is, using Home Assistant, is it possible to set up a way of just saying “Alexa, watch [movie name]” and then for Home Assistant to convert this to “Alexa, ask Autovoice to watch [movie name]”.

I am trying to make the sentence shorter and easier to say.
Thank you

Not really, you would likely end up having to say “Alexa, ask Home Assistant to watch [movie name]”.

You can set up routines in Alexa to trigger scripts in Home Assistant, but those won’t pass intent variables/slot values. For that kind of thing, you have to verbally invoke the Home Assistant skill.

Thanks for your reply! I guess since Alexa doesn’t allow variables, then that’s the main issue. I hope Amazon implement it one day.
