State_attributes vs device_state_attributes

Can anyone explain the difference between state_attributes and device_state_attributes ? Reading the docstring doesn’t really explain it to me.

Also is it possible to differentiate on the state info displayed in the state overview in the setup section and the state info when clicking on a device ?

device_state_attributes is used by the platforms.

If I understand you right, no.

Thanks. I thought so. Could be useful though. For example my devices have quite a long ID (20 characters or so). Not nice to have them displayed in a status card. But required when doing any kind of configuration…
