State of the Insteon component?

Hi,

I am currently using the insteon-mqtt project but I just saw that a “new” insteon component for HA exist. I played in the past with other Insteon component for HA but they had many troubles. This is the reason I started using insteon-mqtt.

I have a couple of question about the new insteon component :

1- I have a USB modem and I was wondering if the new component need to poll the modem/devices to get state change or only listen for incoming messages?

2 - Does it support all the button of the KeypadLinc? I was not able to find confirmation for that.

3 - Does it support I/OLinc?

It does not need to poll. It listens for messages from the device and updates state based on device changes. The only exception is if device 1 is a controller of device 2 and device 1 tells device 2 to turn on for example, HA sees the change in device 1 but not device. 2. This is a limitation of Insteon, and can be addressed using automations in HA.

2 - Does it support all the button of the KeypadLinc? I was not able to find confirmation for that.
Yes it supports KPLs. It supports the KPL load on/off/dimming and it supports turning the LEDs on/off. IT does not currently activate the scenes that the KPL buttons B-H trigger. That is on the roadmap

3 - Does it support I/OLinc?
Yes it supports I/OLinc. It supports this as two HA devices. One is a binary sensor and the other is a switch. If you use the IOLinc as a garage door opener, the binary sensor will show you if the door is open or closed and the triggering of the door is via the switch.

For me, both entities are showing as switches.
Using ISY/plm and latest Hassio.

Any thoughts?

My reply in this tread was only related to the Insteon component, not the ISY component that you are using.

The current release HA0.102.3 Insteon integration and all releases since .096.5 fail with unable to connect to 2245 message within an hour of reboot. I have set up a new pi running 0.96.5 and it is still working after 3 days.

HA 0.96.5 also gets unable to connect to 2245 but a second try reestablishes the connection.
Logs below showing this happen. Any ideas on how to fix this?

There is an update to the hub connection issue in the beta release of 0.105 if you can test that. It should be in the main release of 0105.0 this week.
