Ive been having problems setting a static ip for my Hassio.
When i ping hassio i get the ip, but if the wifi is interrupted, the ip sometimes changes.
In my router (Netgear Nighthawk) i can set static ip to all other devices in the house, except for Hassio, which doesnt even show up under the lan tab. It should be 192.168.1.10 according to the latest ping.
Does anyone have a solution for this?
Hassio is running in virtualbox which is installed on a windows 10 pc.
Its been a while. I shomehow managed to set the ip static in my router for home assistant. However, after a power outage, everything died and corrupted. After this, i had problems with ip conflicts.
The problem i had, and have been having now is that Homeassistant is showing up in the router, but not constantly. Its visible only sometimes.
I think one of the problems is that the VM has the same MAC address as the host, so im not able to set static ips for both the host and guest system.
Im going to try again this weekend, but i think there is something going on with the host pc, since im not even able to access the http://homeassistant.local:8123, no matter what i do now, even though i do clean installs of virtualbox and home assistant multiple times.
Another thing im going to try is making the connection to the router wired, hoping this will somehow improve communication…
So unfortunately, not much help from me at this point
Thanks, I’ll try that next time if I move to wireless again.
I got it running now without any problems by going for a wired connection directly to the router.
This automatically gave home assistant its own ip.
In addition to this, I re installed virtualbox and created a new virtual machine with home assistant. Feels a lot more stable now, and it seems some (WiFi) devices work better with less interference from the host.
So, after digging around looking for the same option, I felt really dumb when I stumbled onto this page which basically says you can static set the IP for the system under Superviser/System . . .
Maybe this was done in an update recently, I’m not sure as this is my first time setting things up but it’s there and much easier to set the static than I thought.
