I added two ZWave switches but one shows up as a switch and the other as a light.
The nzw31 was added first a few days ago by unplugging the Z-stick and manually pairing the switch. The nzw30 was just added from the Configuration tab, ZWave, add node.
How did I get the first switch into “Light” and the second into “Switch”?
Are “Light” and “Switch” what other docs refer to as “Domains”??
How do I make the second switch a “Light” since that’s what it’s controlling, or should it be in “Switch” because it is a switch?
Switches have two functions - On/Off. Lights on the other hand, can do much more (color control, effects, and in your case, dim).
I would suggest checking out the Groups page in the docs - what you may want to do is use custom Switch and Light groups that show the entities that you want in each. Pay close attention to the notes about default groups as I imagine you’ll want to hide those after creating your own.
You can then checkout the Customizing Entities doc to change up the icons so that your “switches” that control lights can have a light bulb rather than a lightning bolt. I’ve done this same thing in my example below.
I followed a tutorial video when pairing the first device with the Z-Stick since the documentation for the device and the Z-Stick said the same. Only after reading someone said this was the wrong way, I searched the Home Assistant sight for “how to add a ZWave device” and discovered the right way through the Z-Wave Control Panel.
