Does anybody know how I can stop HA updating its OS beyond v9? If it updates to 10 it breaks my installation due to a bug with 10. I’ve asked this before and got nowhere but it’s just happened again.
It sometimes seems to update itself when the hardware is power cycled, which due to an unstable power supply, happens from time to time.

I use the update service to skip core updates until the end of the month. Could you do something similar with the OS?
The OS does not update automatically. You have to start the process. So don’t.
Only the supervisor updates automatically.
You will be left behind and possibly miss important patches and feature. So your real options are (after updating the OS):
Upgrade your mqtt addon and implement the required security.
Use another mqtt broker.
I would happily update the MQTT addon but I do find it bizarre there’s no way to say “I am not worried about someone injecting malicious MQTT messages or reading the ones I send, I don’t need usernames/passwords”
