Stop location update at home (via wifi)

you do realize the purpose of your request and test are not going to have the same results right?

Just stopping the request for location updates will not save as much battery as you are saying it will save. A better test is to disable the background location sensor and see how much battery you will really save by this request because that is what you are asking the developers to do

Ok, you are right, i will run it again for more info, but because ive looked on the usage of HA app specific, the results might be close, because the only difference was the app couldn’t sample the location, no?. i wish im wrong here.
anyways, this is not exactly what i meant. what im saying is - if you dont need to sample the location, why would you?
I will return soon with the results

location is also used for sensors like wifi (we cant tell you are on home wifi without it), geocoded location, some of the bluetooth beacons etc… so not quite the same there. Location update subscription is different from querying APIs which also requires location.

It can still boil down to sensor updates, usage of persistent connection etc…

for battery life troubleshooting we have these steps: Troubleshooting | Home Assistant Companion Docs

The list is very useful, and documented well. Thanks!
I dont have any problem with draining the battery if needed, but on the other hand to save where we can

you know personally speaking i have every sensor enabled…at the end of the day i still have over 50% battery life on my pixel 7 pro …to me tahts beyond perfect and not to worry about anything. Pixel Watch same behavior

Nice it may be my next smartphone, right now i have a samsung note 9 with a tired battery, so i dont worry about the total usage, just the differences between the tests. my dead battery just takes it to the edge :stuck_out_tongue:

so a 4 year old battery? maybe try upgrading the battery lol

Its time to upgrade the whole device  , properly s23 ultra or pixel 7 pro, depends on how good s23 will be.

Ok, updates
10h each test
the first one all location sensors (HA app) have been disabled
sec test all location sensors have been enabled (the include in sensor update option on single accurate location disabled [on the original test it was activate]) → ha-screenshot — ImgBB

Results:

do you have any widgets from the app? also what is your persistent connection setting?

this will 100% cause excessive drain, its why that setting is off by default

My connection persistent is ‘always’ :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

And, sure it is draining my battery, ive changed it because of the list you attached here before.
idw why i thought the opposite → this will include the last notification location request in the next sensor cycle (will save battery). anyway i disabled it for the last tests.
