Stop stream to save data?

Hello,

I have remote camera connected to my VPN (site-to-site) so I can add RTSP stream to HA.

Anytime I click on camera entity, stream starts just fine but problem is that it doesn’t stop when stream window is closed. I can tell by traffic monitor on my router. How can I stop this? My data plan is limited so I cannot let this to be happening.

So is it normal (by design) behaviour of the stream component?

I am sorry but I am confused that no one else has this poblems.

You need to change the card setting from “live” to auto.

Same here. If the camera start to stream, it never stops as long I restart HA. This problem is still alive in 2023. Please help us.

P.S. setting from “live” to auto does not help. The stream still runs in the backround. Just scroll the entity - list starts the stream. This sucks.
