My motion sensor is a binary sensor which returns either “off” or “on”. If I edit an automation in the UI, however, possible states in the dropdown are “Cleared” and “Detected”. I understand the desire to make HA more user friendly, but this is inconsistent with the yaml and obscures the way binary sensors work.
Some time in the last year or so I also notice that the first letter of items in the UI dropdown has become capitalized - “On” rather than “on” and “Off” rather than “off”. An aesthetic choice, presumably, I can’t see any reason for it. Again this is inconsistent with the yaml and potentially confusing.
HA should be a single system, not one for the hacks and another for the noobs.
