Struggle with deciding on Whole home audio with HA

Hi all,

I’ve been playing around with home-assistant every evening the last week or so. Being a developer and tried out homey for a while really got me triggered more.
Soon I will be moving into a new house starting a renovation in two weeks thus planning cabling, audio setups, and stuff like that.

My Goal: Easy switchable whole-home audio manages through Home Assistant.
Since I love the idea of a Sonos arc setup with multiple Sonos ones through the home this got me excited. But the hassle of adding playlists to Sonos’s playlist app and not being able to easily switch music is a real down-side.

My questions would be, would there be any workaround possible to have Spotify Connect running with easy switching music from HA with grouped speakers. Either through a server-like setup or anything else?

Really like setups like these.

And if not sonos, whats the best option B?

Can’t speak for sonos. I run a rack audio / media center controlled by a globalcache and z-wave outlets to control power. I use daphile for the music server. The GC-100-12 allows me to control all aspects of my receivers and also projectors. I have 9.1 for media room, 5.1 for family room and have 6 zones of audio. I also have a 4x4 HDMI switcher to move signals to desired locations. The Gtach built in integration just works. I use the squeezebox integration to control the daphile music server. The squeeze box supports spotify, tidal and pandora as well as your personal music library and a plethora of internet radio stations in most genres. I use Kodi for my media library pulling from a NAS server.

I can also monitor my casting devices. I don’t have individual zone control for the whole house audio. My plan is to make the hardware investment to make this a reality.

You are only limited by your skill and imagination.
