Stuck at splash screen and flickering

So, I’m trying to install the system on a Raspberry Pi 3 B. I installed it on a SD card using the guide on the site, plugged in the Z-Stick and Ethernet cable, and booted up. The Hass.io splash screen shows up, and then nothing. Every now and then, the screen turns black and the splash comes back. It’s been 35 minutes now, is this normal?

Depending on your internet connection, it might be normal.

We have a 100/100 on fiber, usually download with 8-12Mb/s … guess I just have to wait?

Might be, if after an hour it’s still not ok. Try again with a new image, and without the usb module. You can install it later, maybe it’s what’s blocking the install.

What bugs me most is, that on a Swedish guide, the splash screen shows a counter and text saying it’s downloading. Now, I only have a splash screen with the logo.

Don’t know where this guide come from, but the official documentation is clear about it:
“Do not expect anything but the Home Assistant logo on the HDMI display, or any use for a keyboard or mouse.”

I used: https://pcforalla.idg.se/2.1054/1.701407/raspberry-pi-home-assistant-smarta-hemmet-hubb?queryText=raspberry

I have now tried to install on 2 different Raspberry’s, using 2 different SD-cards using 2 different adapters with 2 different software (Etcher and Rufus) and usong one ethernet and one WiFi, same thing. Just a splash screen for an hour, and then the screen turns of and nothing else happens…

Do you have any special network configuration that would disable hass from accessing internet? (Proxy/Mac filtering/…)

So, I went to the Discord chat, and it turns out it was the charger…or so we think. I switched from a 0.5A to a 5.0A and now the screen isn’t turning on and off, so I hope this does it. Installation has been running for 10 minutes without screen flickering, so looks fine!

Yes, 0.5A is really too weak. With 5A it should be fine.
Hope it works for you

Update: works fine. Running a few simple components to test ut out. Having some issues with HA crashing when setting up DuckDNS tho. Makes the HA offline, and all I can do is to reinstall it. But that’s for another thread
