Stuck(?) Install on MacOS using VirtualBox

Hey folks. Excited about getting HA installed. I’m trying to run it on an older MacBook Air running Monterey using Virtual Box, but running into what I think is a hangup.

Basically, the virtual machine boots and gets to the ha prompt. I can run the help and other commands. When I go to …:8123, I see the “Preparing Home Assistant” screen. But that only lasts for a minute or two. If I reload again, I get the “This site can’t be reached” error in Chrome. Nothing happens after that, even though, at one point, I gave it close to an hour. I can shut down the virtual machine just fine.

I’ve done this a number of times–deleted the VM and started over three times, and can consistently recreate.

I’m new to HA and have no idea how to start troubleshooting, so any direction is appreciated. I started by trying to install HA in Ubuntu on an old Surface, but I’m just not well versed enough in troubleshooting Linux and HA, so I figured I’d use the platform I know to at least get HA setup the first time. Got farther along on the Mac! But I feel like there’s something simple I’m missing here.

Let me know what other info is helpful. Thanks in advance!
