Stuck trying to get HA Green up and running

Hi All,
I am excited to be a new member of the community. I purchased a HA Green last week from Amazon, but sadly for me (of course) it has not proven particularly plug and play.

I initially connected the device to my internet via cable and to power via the plug. It seemed to be going well. I was able to connect in my browser to homeassistant.local:8123. It started to do its thing but ran into an error. Perhaps stupidly at this point, I decided to reboot. Ever since then when I try to connect I get:

This site can’t be reached

homeassistant.local refused to connect.

Try:

ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

I tried to connect via my IP and that did not work either getting the same message.

I went through the factory reset process and am still stuck in the same situation. Can anyone point me toward some noobish level solutions to get this up and running? I am very excited to switch this over to HA from Google Home.

TY.

Hi,

When you say that you tried to connect it to your IP, you meant your internal IP, right? (just checking) So your IP address, for example 192.167.1.25;8123

Did you check your network what iP address your Home Assistant uses?

Are you trying to access your server from a Windows computer?

MDNS is what converts a local hostname like homeassistant.local to an IP address. It gets easily confused on Windows. Fastest way to fix is reboot your Windows computer.

If you do a web search there are instructions for ways to fix it without rebooting by disabling and enabling your network adapter.
