Yikes…

This is not helpful information.

What is your companion and server versions?

Which OS is your companion app installed on?

Do you have warnings or errors in your companion app logs?

Do you use lots of custom frontend plugins/cards?

Do you have heavy dashboards that possibly are pulling lots of data?

Have you checked GitHub for known issues?

Etc.

Come on, we can all look at this beautiful meaningful screenshot and guess what is the exact problem

Companion App is 2023.4 (2023.460) on macOS Ventura 13.5.1

Server is 2023.8.3

There is nothing useful in the companion logs.

The home screen or whatever you want to call it has about 40 light cards.

Yes, there are reports of this with no resolution. I suppose I’ll bake this issue a birthday cake soon.

Server: 2023.7.1

  • MacBook Pro M1 Pro, 14" 2021
  • MacOS Sonoma 14.3.1 (23D60)
  • Home Assistant Companion App 2024.2 (2024.561)
  • HA Core 2024.2.5, Supervisor 2024.03.1, Operating System 12.1, Frontend 20240207.1

I guess the issue remains… I’ve just woke up my macbook from sleep and noticed it is not responsive at all. After a few “frozen” minutes, the window appeared:

Notice, HA Companion App for Mac taking 45 GB of RAM.

Also: notice WindowServer taking 31.5 GB → after I killed HA Companion App, it is now taking “only” 1.25 GB.
