Suddenly high CPU usage

Hi,

I’m running Supervised over Debian on a gen10 i5 NUC.

My CPU usage has been steady at around 2% for the last year up until a couple of weeks ago when is suddenly rose to about 15% or so, and after restarting Core I was right back at 2%. This has happened 2-3 times a week since then. Since today, updating HA and trying to fix a couple of “repairs”(systemd journal and connectivity check) restarting Core doesn’t have an effect anymore, the CPU load stays around 15%.

I tried to restore a snapshot from before this issue first was introduced without any difference, and I have done anything special around the time the issue first was observed - the most “dramatic” thing I can recall is updating the underlying OS.

The logger is set to DEBUG for Homeassistant core. I can’t find anything in the logs. When looking at the graph attached above it seems like the CPU started to climb around 13:05 and reached its destination around 13:15.

TOP gives me 118,3 %CPU:
8795 root 20 0 1542736 418260 57920 R 118,3 2,6 19:26.27 python3

So, I need help.

Any idea where I should start digging?

I have mean cpu usage of 38%. It can go sometimes up to a 99%.
In my case frigate addon usually tigers this high cpu usage.

I’ve used frigate for 6 months, and have never experienced anything similar.

Turning off the frigate add-on doesn’t make any difference on my “high” CPU usage, so unfornunately I dont think thats the problem… would have been nice if it was that simple though!

I have high cpu usage usually because of frigate as I’m using cpu detectors. And that is not recommended but I don’t have a coral.

I have an idea. You can install glances addon and export it data to influxdb. There you use databse to see what is going on in a nice graph. :slightly_smiling_face:
