I’m looking for a more durable solution for fan controller. In seven years at this house I have had several switch failures. The last two controllers were Enbrighten Z-Wave Plus Fan Control, #14314 available at Amazon. Both devices only lasted about 3 years each. I’m open to any other style of controller (such as an in ceiling style), but I’m hoping for a little more than 2-3 years out of it. It must be able to turn on/off the fan plus vary the speed. Fan is NOT a DC fan. Standard residential 3 speed ceiling fan.
Anyone have a suggestion that’s worked for them? Z-wave would be my first choice, wifi is a possibility. Im not running Matter at this time.
As far as I know, the only other Z-Wave fan controller currently being sold in the US market besides the Enbrighten/Jasco is the Leviton ZW4SF. The other options like Inovelli or HomeSeer are no longer being manufactured. So you’ll have to expand your search to a protocol besides Z-Wave if neither of those are interesting.
For the Enbrighten, I would probably opt for the more recent 700-series variant 58446 over the 500-series, despite the price difference (Leviton is also 700-series, but slightly older).
I’ve had both of my Jasco Z-Wave fan controllers going on for 5+ years, so that would be my first choice, but it sounds like your experience has not been as nice.
I’ve tried most of them and keep coming back to the Jasco 14xxx
Do you have whole home surge?
I used to lose at least one Jasco every couple months. Now. Nada. Difference surge suppression at the box… The Jasco seems to be ultra sensitive to it.
