Howdy
I really love Home assistant and i till today i always could figure it out. But this time i am really stuck

I bought a
https://www.sunricher.com/touch-panel-rgbw-z-wave-wall-controller-sr-zv9001t4-rgbw-eu.html

And added it to home assistant trough z-wave to have a wall controller to controll my z-wave rgbw bulb
https://www.robbshop.nl/e27-rgbw-led-lamp-2-zipato

But when i added the controller home assistant sees it but it has no entities:

I really have no idea how to use this device now :frowning:
Somebody has an idea ?

Looks like you’re looking at the zwave entity on the STATES page. Have you looked under Configuration -> Integrations -> Z-Wave? Or even Configuration -> Z-Wave, then select it in the Nodes drop-down?

Yes i did but there are no entities there
i did a refresh node but still nothing

I can only see the node itself which is ready

I don’t have all that many Z-Wave devices, and I’ve been using them for quite some time, but every once in a while I have to add or replace a device (just had to replace two GE switches that crapped out), and each time it’s a struggle. Anyway, did you try restarting HA? It seems sometimes it takes one or two restarts for everything to get fully recognized.

2 reboots but no difference, I can try it again tomorrow
is it a good idea to delete /config/zwcfg_.xml so it must refresh all data on the nodes
or is that gonna destroy my installation ?

Not 100% sure. There’s a lot about the Z-Wave infrastructure I don’t know about. I think it will recreate it, and since the devices are stored in the Z-Wave stick itself (at least I think it is for the Aeotec controller I’m using) I don’t think you’ll loose anything. Also any customizations are stored elsewhere, so they probably won’t get lost either. FWIW, I backup my whole HA install before doing anything Z-Wave related. :wink:

<Node id="17" name="" location="" basic="4" generic="24" specific="1" roletype="5" devicetype="5632" nodetype="0" type="Basic Wall Controller" listening="true" frequentListening="false" beaming="true" routing="true" max_baud_rate="40000" version="4" query_stage="Complete">

That line contains information that identifies the node. Of interest are generic="24" and specific="1". HA uses those properties to determine which entities it will create for the device.

Generic 24 means “Wall controller” and Specific 1 means “Basic Wall Controller” (from here). However, HA does not recognize those as a device that supports lights.

Here is the discovery schema code for light entities.

        const.DISC_COMPONENT: "light",
        const.DISC_GENERIC_DEVICE_CLASS: [
            const.GENERIC_TYPE_SWITCH_MULTILEVEL,
            const.GENERIC_TYPE_SWITCH_REMOTE,
        ],
        const.DISC_SPECIFIC_DEVICE_CLASS: [
            const.SPECIFIC_TYPE_POWER_SWITCH_MULTILEVEL,
            const.SPECIFIC_TYPE_SCENE_SWITCH_MULTILEVEL,
            const.SPECIFIC_TYPE_NOT_USED,
        ],

Basically, for a light entity to be created, the device needs to meet these two criteria first. The Generic type (const.DISC_GENERIC_DEVICE_CLASS) must be either a “switch multilevel” or “switch remote”. If those match, the specific type must be "power switch multilevel, “scene switch multilevel” or “not used”. Since your device doesn’t match any of those, no light is created.

Obviously, your device does support lights (it has COMMAND_CLASS_SWITCH_MULTILEVEL), so it’s basically a bug. You might want to submit an issue (or fix it yourself!). To fix it would be adding those generic and specific types to the discover schema. Generic type “Wall controller” is const.GENERIC_TYPE_WALL_CONTROLLER and specific type “basic wall controller” is const.SPECIFIC_TYPE_BASIC_WALL_CONTROLLER.

You can trick HA into matching the existing schema by stopping HA and modifying your zwcfg*.xml. Change generic="24" to generic="18". I don’t believe it will affect anything else (and you can always change it back, make a backup or just delete it).

Thanks m8 you’re the best

Have you done anything other than changing the value of 24 to 18 to solve this problem. I almost have the same switch (Sunricher Unknown: type=0300, id=a306) And i’m also not getting any entities.

It hasn’t completed the interview process. If this is the same switch, then it hasn’t found the command class and values for the switch entities (make sure you’ve saved the config file or shutdown HA before looking at the file though…). You need to repeat the process for inclusion, usually pressing a button one or more times.

Thanks for the fast reply,

I just fixed it. Has nothing to do with the problem above. As you said, the entry of the switch was not going well. I have force removed it, and included it again.

To be honest i did nothing at all
It just works
