[SUPLA] VARLIGHT V-PRo Dimmer - any help pls

I’ve had little joy getting the VARLIGHT V-PRo Dimmer integrated

With SUPLA tokens for " Channels, at least the Read and Action execution permissions"

or even every permission

Nothing is autodetected.

I can control them using MQTT Explorer connected directly on Supla MQTT.

But trying to use nodered as a bridge from HA MQTT to Supla MQTT doesn’t seen to work. The NodeRed Supla MQTT says “connected” but no messages are received.

Forking the output to test.mosquitto.org shows the correct messages are published

Had exactly the same issue. Couldnt find any support and the integration only seems to support switches.

has anyone worked out how to get v pro smart dimmers to work with ha? currently i have a zigbee remote that just sends a text command to google assistant to turn lights off/on, so it’s really delayed a bit wonky

I did get them to work with NodeRed MQTT - quite a bit of work and and an MQTT learning curve

Still requires remote to SUPLA MQTT.

I would have tried running SUPLA MQTT locally on my NAS but in the end the dimmer devices are not very robust, one died after a power cut and couldn’t be resuscitated, another went wonky an would periodically go through a self reset.

I decided to swap them out for more expensive Candeo Zigbee dimmers - so far so good.

i got supla cloud working in HA, which is usable. i have a zigbee controller button for on/off and dimming. the dimming is quite slow but not too bad.
shame youve had bad devices. did varilight not want to replace them?
which candeo dimmers do you have?

I’m sure there would have been Varlight replacements but they don’t feel very reliable so probably time to move on.

Candeo Zigbee dimmers - reckon they need less power and therefore less drain on the “no neutral” power.
