Although as topic starter I really wanted this badly, I now don’t mis it anymore. HASS allowed me to automate in such a detail that the only times I use the GUI is to do maintenance, install new devices etc. I had wall mounted tablets around the house I don’t even use anymore. This is a household with 2 adults and 3 kids. Devices that are used often (heating, lights) can also be used by switching/adjusting them manual (build in switches, connected thermostats). Voice control (Google home) is also used now and then.
I’ve now started building something in lovelace but that is more for fun. I also find the new cards more attractive but I get that is subjective.
