I am not an alexa user but I briely bought one to to try out the app and it had a great feature when you create automations that it will give you a '‘supress automation’ option and then a drop down with time
e.g 1 minute - hours
It would be great to do this in the home assisrtant UI instead of using the template as a newbie this is too daunting for me and a drop down would be great.
Use case -
Trigger
Motion detected in downstairs hallway
Condition
Time bewteen 22:30 - 5:00 AM
AND
Automation not activated in last 10 minutes
Action
Turn on LED strip
Delay 3 minutes
Turn off led lights
Without a supress the LED lights are likely to turn back on when I go back upstairs which is pointless
I usually use countdowns as a seperate entity for automations and react on the countdown. With your automation you cant say reset the timer, but if you activate with one automation, trigger a timer/countdown, then another one to react on that you can in the meantime reset it (the timer), pause it etc without breaking your automation.
I can see a way by what you are saying, which would probs be easier then coding the template function
Ideally requesting adding a simple ‘‘supress’’ automation like alexa has because I feel this would be very useful and intuitive then having the mind boggle or either other options in HA.
I can see they are pushing to go more user friendly and thing this is a sure bet this is needed when alternative platforms already have it
