I have been on a broken SSD for several years. The ssd and reader must be positioned just right for it to work. I have it fairly reliable with many zip ties and an old bell housing bolt. But, it is time to fix it the right way. I have a new ssd and reader. Is it as simple as using something like Macrium reflect to copy the image to the new drive? That’s how I do my Windows machines. Or is there a better process?
If you’re installed in haos. Backup current build brand new based on the new disk, then restore yojr backup into the new. The backup is agnostic and will carry your settings. (don’t repurpose the old until new works.)
This is also your Disaster recovery process. Get good at it. ![]()
I have put the HA image on the new SSD with Balena Etcher. I’ll see if that allows the Pi to boot. I want to 3D print a case for the SSD so it doesn’t break again.
the Pi booted right up. I was able to go to the default URL and load in my backup. It was totally seamless and took under an hour. I wasn’t expecting it to be so easy!
