SwitchBot/Home Assistant Controlled Garden Solar Lights

A converted cheap solar lamp activated by a switchbot via home assistant and a wifi/bluetooth esp8266 extender. 3d printed adapter to include space for the switchbot and some additional solar panels. Now the lights can come on in a controlled way and at a time I specify and be switched off so not to waste the solar charged battery.

So far i’ve got 3 made and have run them for 10 months without issue.

Happy to share if people are interested. Not a cheap option but makes better use of the lights and doesn’t require outside wires.

You can put a controlled light anywhere and have it managed via automations in Home Assistant. And if SwitchBot want to send me 10x more i’ll finish the rest of the garden and make a youtube video on it. #SwitchBot

Hey there – can you share the design of the switch you printed? I couldn’t get it to work, the switchbot had too short a throw (and in the end, I’m just using a wall light switch, but it’s ugly!)

Sure I used these switches.

Taiss 4pcs Momentary Roller Lever Arm Micro Limit Switch with Wires AC 250V 5A SPDT 1NO 1NC 3 Pins Mini Switches ss-5GL2-HX https://amzn.eu/d/absOvnG

I ended up cutting off the roller part and bending the arm so that it clicked the switch sooner in the action…

And a custom 3d printed mount. I can send you this if you have an email…

Thank you!
