It would be nice to be able to trigger my Switchbot S10 in home assistant. Unfortunately, everything I see about the Switchbot S10 says Matter is reqiured to do this. I am somewhat confused by this supposed requirement, as my Switchbot S10 is already connected to my Wifi. To add to my confusion, Alexa can already control it over WiFi.
Do I really need to buy YAH (Yet Another Hub) to get the S10 into Home Assistant? Is there any feasibility of just using the WiFi to control it?
You can use the S10 directly with ‘matter-over-wifi’, without an YAH.
Although it’s still in the BETA stage, you can at least start, pause, send it home, and select a few standard modes. Simply start the setup in the Switchbot app under device settings, then add the Matter device as an integration in Home Assistant under ‘Devices & Services’.
