I bought a Switchbot for opening the blinds. I was able to install it, calibrate it, and get it to work fine on my phone via bluetooth. I followed several guides to get it into HA via bluetooth proxy but the integration doesn’t see it. I see its bluetooth MAC via the bluetooth integration. I’m using Shelly Plug US as a bluetooth proxy. I’ve tried to put it into pairing mode and the integration still doesn’t see it. I’ve seen other comments saying the same thing and also that they had it working and after a certain HA release, it stopped working. Does anyone have any advice on this? Thanks.
Don’t believe those can act as an active proxy (as in back and forth communication), which is needed.
That’s the scanner mode (whether it passively listens or actively asks devices to send out their data) but it’s still just one-way communication. You need active communication though. And yeah the terms sucks. Ha
so what device should i get that let’s that happen? I had thought this was the real deal bluetooth proxy
I just ordered an ESP32 to make an ESP Home BLE device. I was trying to avoid this but I guess I have to give in.
That’s what I’ve done (well, I already had them around the house for other ESPHome projects and just added BT Proxy to them). And yeah, it’s a shame the Shellys don’t work that way. I have a couple use-cases where it’d be fantastic, but unfortunately I need the active communication piece.
OMG it worked perfect! The minute I configured the ESP32 it showed up fast and works. Thanks!
