Switching from ZWave (Deprecated) to ? via Over-IP

Knowing that ZWave legacy has been deprecated and at some point will be removed. Any one knows of a new solution to using Home Assistant Core with ZWave that will support this configuration:

Client (Linux VM) Configuration::
Home Assistant Core (Service) --> Socat (Service)

Server (Raspberry Pi) Configuration:
Socat (service) --> ZStick

I have dabbled on the topic here: Official Z-way integration request and I was hopping that Z-waveJS might be able to accommodate this configuration but now I am having second doubts.

I use a Raspberry Pi/ZStick hardware combination for the ZWave controller traffic in a similar fashion that I do with my Wifi/AP setup for my Lan traffic. This gives me the flexibility to locate my ZWave controller at an optimum location since I do not have the same flexibility with my Home Assistant Core Service.

I see merit to the Z-waveJS initiative but I am not sure how to port this/my configuration to any new solutions that I have seen for Home Assistant including Z-waveJS?
