Hello fellas, I’m a very satisfied HA’s user thanks also to this great community but, since I’m planning to switch to Starlink as ISP I want to be sure to don’t “fudge up” my current setup.
I utilize HA OS installed directly on a NUC (no VM) which also operates as my local DNSv4 server. As modem/router I currently have a Fritz!Box 7590 and it’s extremely efficient in managing my local network (roughly 50 devices). For remote access I simply go with DuckDNS, not always great but, being free I can’t complain much.
Now, since I started to be tired of my FTTC situation and not seeing an improvement in the near future, I guess is the moment to move to Starlink (I live in Italy), however, I don’t want to reconfigure my everything from scratch but keeping the current HA network as it is now.
So, after this long-winded preamble, I ask you, how can I achieve this? Putting the Starlink in bypass mode is the only caution I should take care of or there is more that I should consider?
Thanks in advance for your help!
In my country, Starlink uses GNAT. That means DuckDNS does not work. Do a search for what others have done. To solve, I had to pay out for Nabu Casa (which I can not complain about!). There might be a way of avoiding Nabu Casa but at that point I gave up the hassle. I am already using DuckDNS in another location (not starlink!).
Thanks for the feedback. The DuckDNS (possible) issue is my last concern, there are several alternatives to consider for remote access.
If the starlink setup will allow you to use your current LAN config/address scheme, your only issue might be remote access.
