System Monitor as a graph?

I just enabled the system monitor to graph cpu load over time but to my surprise it’s not plotted as a graph but as a string value.

I found this topic on github where someone reported this issue a long time ago and it was said a unit was missing and that was what caused it to not be graphed.

Is there any workaround or plans to fix it?

Why not using influxdb and grafana and telegraf?

I imagine the priority for this is low as you can get the same information for the local CPU from the system monitor component.
