My Hassio seems to be running slow, so I loaded the System Monitor. I noticed the Load_1m, 5m and 15m, but I can’t find any guidance on what these values mean. I read other people are seeing values around 0.5, but I’m getting 5-7, is that normal? My memory use hovers around 70% and CPU use 10-25%. Thanks!
Those are the number of processes wanting CPU time. Whether they are high or not depends on the number of CPU cores you have.
If you have one CPU core, those numbers are high - you’ve got more processes wanting CPU time than CPUs. If you have 4 cores, it’s a little high, but not too bad. If you’ve got 8 or more cores, the load is irrelevant.
I always work on the basis of about 0.4 per processor, assuming you have a Pi3 then 4 processors. 1 (per processor) indicates a full processor queue, once you get up here then the swapping between tasks actually starts to slow processing down even further. (that’s what I understand anyway) but I’ve also seen systems, like yours, that should just be bogged down. They’re not, so the analogy is not accurate.
Mine are currently running at about 0.02 or less with a cpu loading of 1%
There is another thread running at the moment where a guy is experiencing a memory leak and he is being recommended to stop certain integrations to see (binary reduction) where his problem is.
I would suggest that you do the same.
Hi,
Did you read the other thread.?
His issue was a statistics package running in the background, he turned that off and everything is now right with the world.
Please let the thread know what happened as this will help the next guy who has the same/similar problem.
Regards
