Tablet recommendation for wall display with CCTV

Hi All,

Recently bought a Samsung Tab A8 for a wall display using Fully Kiosk, all works great apart from showing CCTV camera feeds in HA…it’s very slow.

All my feeds (for testing) are set to H264, 1920x108, VBR.

Im using the HA Camera integration and have WebRTC installed, it makes no difference if I select UDP/TCP, Primary or Sub-streams from the actual camera settings, it’s still slow, showing MSE and eventually RTC on the feed.

I installed VLC on the Tab A8, the camera feeds work much faster.

Any ideas on what I can do to improve the speed showing the camera feeds on the Tab A8?

I think it’s not so much the tablet itself that is the most important part in this situation but how you pull in/display the streams.
With a tablet there is no use to have HQ streams in a grid because they are to small anyway.
For showing them full screen you will only display 1 and even then you could use a lower resolution.
Another thing is how are your streams encoded.

I’m not an expert on this but have played with it in past.
