Tablet wall mount for HA?

Hi everyone,
I would like to fix a tablet on the wall for wearing with HA, but I have some questions:

  1. Can I get a cheap tablet?

  2. If you watch this video,
Using Home Assistant to preserve my tablet's BATTERY life! - YouTube
it explains how to preserve the tablet battery with an automation. How would you do?

  3. I would not take an amazon tablet for 200$/€ and replace it only as a dashboard.
    what advice do you have?

I want to do a similar thing

Thank you !

If you have a dead laptop or can get one, take the good screen out of it and buy a digitiser that sits on the screen to make it a touch screen.
Attach a Pi or similar and you’re done. Before we moved, I had one mounted on a swivel which then pointed to the kitchen bench, if needed. I used Android and the companion app.

I’m using a Lenovo Tab M series, half the price, works just fine. Has a built in battery protection mode, if powered constantly, battery is charged 80 % max.

Thank you

I don’t have an old pc. I can also buy a tablet, but I wanted to know if I can use a cheap one or an Amazon tablet. Also, I can add the USB switch you see in the video to charge the tablet. What do you think is the simplest Solution?

@BebeMischa can you share your tablet and your wire / component compatibile with HA?

I don’t fully understand your question…

Sorry…

Rhank you

I have a small Lenovo Tab M7 too (not on the wall though), it also has the battery protection mode. When turned on it will just stop charging the battery at 60% and then power the tablet from the USB port directly without using the battery. It’s perfect, no need for any weird charging automation.

I bought the tablet some time ago on Amazon for like €60.

You don’t need all that stuff for these tablets, the builtin battery protection mode does everything. Just keep it plugged in. It won’t use the battery.
