Tap Water Temperature Sensor

Hello everyone,

I’m doing a research for find the best way to mesure the water’s temperature inside the pipe.
What I saw some people do, is tape a sensor to the pipe. But I’m looking for a cost/efective solution that can get better results, for pvc pipes this is not the ideal solution.
Do you have any suggestion or products for mesure the temperature of the water inside a pipe?

I intend to use this sensors to get the most of my solar water panel.

Thank you,
Nuno Félix

hi @nmcfelix I would be interested in your findings as I have my hot water tank and I need to measure the temperature of the water inside it without making any holes etc.

I am using a sonoff th16 with a waterproof temperature sensor that comes with it to measure the temperature of the immersion heater but this is no way accurate and is causing me a lot of problems.

You could insert a short length of copper inline with sharkbite etc. and use foil tape to mount a sensor. Insulate the copper well with some pipe insulation…

What’s the purpose of the copper?

Sorry, I just saw that you were trying to measure the inside tank temperature but I was answering nmcfelix (new mexico?) .

For inside tank measurements I use a thermowell or a just measure at the output of a circulation loop.

I thought your issue was with getting the temperature on the pvc pipe.
