I tried the built-in TP-Link integration, the Tapo HACS integration and Matter, I cannot get this plug connected. I’ve been trying on and off for a couple of weeks, If you have managed to make this work, I’d love to know how you did it.
Thanks.

Did you ever get it to work?
Same problem here. Trying to add the P4000M by IP via TPLink Kasa Smart integration (which allegedly works for Tapo devices now) but no such luck. “Failed to connect” error.
I’m gonna be returning all these Tapos if they don’t work in HA as flawlessly as Kasa devices. Gotta say, the new Tapo app is terrible compared to the Kasa app. Unfortunately, I already migrated my devices.
I just successfully added the Tapo P400M’s to my HA using the Matter integration. As the integration suggests, matter devices needed to be added via the HA phone app. The first time I tried to add one, I was connected to the 5Ghz network, and it failed when I got to the step of it being added to the network. After this, it wouldn’t discover by HA (or Google Home), until I factory reset it by holding down the power buttons for 10 seconds. …after the factory reset, it worked the first time for me with Home Assistant (matter), and connected to my IOT 2.4Ghz network. Works great with HA. I did not add it to Google Home.
