I’m planning to buy an Tapo RV 30 plus vacuum from TP-Link, but i can’t find anything about home assistant integrations, does someone know if this is possible?
Everything I’ve read to date says no.
I’ve tried the tapo/TP-link integration and get “Connection error: Unsupported device [ip address] of type SMART.TAPOROBOVAC with encrypt_type AES”. It’s a good vacuum but unfortunately nothing to directly hook up to HA.
I am going to look in HACS and also thought about trying to get GoogleAssistant to at least start and stop the thing and then work out something “hacky”. That’s all time allowing. It works in their app. It was an impulse buy and did a cursory look at integrations and saw Tapo before pressing the button to buy.
Using it via Alexa Media Player sounds viable. When I finally get Home Assistant up and running, that’s my plan.

Hello! My partner recently purchased one of these robovacs, and they excitedly told me about a new firmware update supporting Matter. I jumped off the couch in disbelief and found that you can indeed now add the RV30 Max Plus to Home Assistant using the Matter Setup Code in the Tapo app, and using the Home Assistant Companion app. It doesn’t seem to fully work yet but it’s a good step forward. I have buttons to pause, start and send back to dock, and I can change the mop settings. So far I have seen it report “Error” status and “Returning to dock” status, so it’s communication something, at least! I could not get it to connect using the TP Link / Tapo integration no matter what I tried.
Link to mention of Matter support:
Edit: You can also change the mop/vacuum mode/speed, and the device responds with a confirmation tone, but I can’t get it to start or pause or go back to the dock.
@Lukahhh, Home Assistant supports the RV30 Max Plus since 2025.2.0 with the TP-Link Smart Home / Tapo integration. And it is working.
Fascinating how Matter should be the “Rule them all” standard and it is just a huge flop…
I just bought one of these and assumed the matter configuration would be on a bit by now, it aint. I was hoping to create buttons to clean specific rooms from wall mounted tablets in each room with a button for “Clean this room” but I don’t think it’s going to be possible.
Has anyone achieved anything similar from HA?
Keep us posted, if you manage to do that. I would be interested.
I’ve just got the RV30 and I’m set up using the integration (not Matter). I’d also love to get buttons for room presets and/or rooms working. Is it possible for room presets to get passed through to HA?
Wondering if specific room cleaning ever became an option. I’m looking to replace my old Wyze Vac but I really need to be able to control what rooms it cleans. I have an automation that cleans the kitchen each night but don’t want it to roam around the whole house.
Tapo rv30 using tp link integration available on HA (tried with Tapo too):
Connection error: Unsupported device 192.168.1.100 of type SMART.TAPOROBOVAC with encrypt_scheme EncryptionScheme(is_support_https=True, encrypt_type=‘TPAP’, http_port=4433, lv=2)
Same problem with RV20 Max Plus.
They’ve locked access to API, here you have their answer:
