Tapo tplink H100 adding to HA

Hi I have H100 tapo tplink thing here. I want it to play a sound when my g4 door bell is pressed, i dont need it or want it to do anything else.

I have spent some time looking for instructions to get this added to HA some say use matter beta, some say use hacs, or some say install a tplink add on thing.

im wondering if the earlier installs were done the shitiest way then as time progressed people found better ways to add hardware.

anyway i dont use matter beta, im pretty sure ive been able to avoid hacs up to now. what is the simplest way to get this installed?

cheers

Have you had a look at this yet?

This is a list of supported devices:

https://python-kasa.readthedocs.io/en/stable/SUPPORTED.html

Hi Daryl
thanks for the quick reply, yes i have read through this a couple of times, is this the simplest way to go about this?

It’s a fully supported integration - so yes.

You may find other integrations with different features on HACS, but this is part of Home Assistant’s core integrations.

okay cheers, I’ve had a crack at it, the TP integration asks for the IP it takes an extremely long time to get to the next step, but it does get there. then it asks for the username and password. I cant get past this step error is: Connection error: try_connect_all failed

okay i tried again from scratch and it worked this time, not sure what I was doing wrong before.
Thanks zoogara Daryl

i am trying to set up an automation for the doorbell, there is no ring/sound or anything remotely like it in the entities. here is the list i have

i cant see how any of these could mean make a chime sound. or is it just labelled stupidly like the ridiculous door bell “occupy” thing. i have deleted it and reinstalled it, still the same. did i buy the wrong unit? did it install badly?

Oh, i can select toggle state of led which does work.
sigh

Are you just trying to make it chime based on a button press of another device? I’m not too familiar with these but isn’t that just the siren? With an appropriate sound chosen using the select?

yes! thats exactly what im trying to achieve, but there is no siren in the list of entities.

And here is someone using it:

ahhh cool, thanks daryl, i wrote that siren.smart_hub into some yaml code and it worked. I dont know how or why. but it worked. thanks
